La Hospedería Sierra de Gata is a hotel perfectly integrated into its natural surroundings. It is the result of restoring an old Franciscan convent that, after a long period of abandonment, has been transformed into a magnificent hotel.
The building, with its thick walls and welcoming décor, offers the intimacy of a place designed for fun and learning. The location is set in an open space with extensive green areas and swimming pool. The rooms are bright and cozy, with simple and functional décor dominated by materials such as wood, iron, and concrete.
Hotel facilities
The hotel has a great range of facilities designed for learning and enjoyment. Guests can enjoy the swimming pool or stay active on the sport fields and gym. For social they have spacious sitting areas, a café with a terrace, and an on-site restaurant.
Walks and excursions
Sierra de Gata is a region in Extremadura where nature and human life coexist harmoniously. In the surrounding area, you can enjoy the traditional mountain architecture of villages preserved since the Middle Ages and now cared for as a treasure. The unique urban layout of San Martín de Trevejo has been declared a Cultural Heritage Site, and the entire region stands out for the beauty of its rural and scenic design.
How to get there
We will be providing bus/coach transport from Madrid to the venue. The journey time is 3.5 hours (approx. 4 hours on return journey). As soon as you get the bus you will be travelling with the Spanish volunteers whom will be eager to begin talking your ear, in Spanish of course! The meeting point is located near our main headquarters in Madrid and the bus departs on the first day of the program – Saturday. On the last day before sadly leaving the program, the bus will be scheduled to leave around 15:00 hours, so you’ll arrive back to Madrid at about 19:30 h. You would have to book your travel back home no earlier than 20:30h (train) or 21:30h (airplane). (Note: This information is subject to change.
